As an admin of AMP, you might find it necessary to rename or delete columns in your CSV or Excel files. This can be done without using the Edit Table feature by directly editing your CSV files. Below is a step-by-step guide for renaming and deleting columns in the Product, Customer, or Rep tables.
To Rename or Delete a Column in the Product Table:
Export the Product Table to CSV:
- Navigate to the Manage Catalog section in AMP.
- Click on the Products/SKUs tab.
- Click Export to CSV in the table editing bar to export the table data to an Excel or CSV file.
Edit the CSV File:
- Open the exported CSV file in Excel or a similar spreadsheet program.
- Rename Columns: To rename a column, simply change the column header to your desired name.
- Delete Columns: To delete a column, right-click the column header and select Delete.
- Save the updated file as a CSV.
Upload the Updated CSV File:
- Go back to Manage Catalog and click on Products/SKUs.
- Click Add a New Table to upload the modified file.
Tag the Columns:
- In the table review page, tag each column to match the new column names or tags you have assigned.
- Click Accept the Upload to confirm the changes.
Activate the New Table:
- Navigate back to Products/SKUs.
- Click Make Active next to the new table to set it as the active table.
To Rename or Delete a Column in the Customer/Rep Table:
Export the Customer/Rep Table to CSV:
- Go to the Users/Locations section of AMP.
- Select either Reps or Customers.
- Click Import Reps
- Click Export to CSV in the table editing bar to export the data to a CSV file.
Edit the CSV File:
- Open the exported CSV file in Excel or a similar spreadsheet program.
- Rename Columns: Change the column header to the desired name.
- Delete Columns: Right-click the column header and select Delete.
- Save the updated file as a CSV.
Delete the Existing Table:
- Navigate to Users/Locations again, and select either Reps or Customers.
- Click Delete this Table to remove the old table.
Upload the Updated CSV File:
- Click Choose File and upload your modified CSV file by selecting Upload New File.
- In the table review page, tag each column to match the tags you have in your new table.
- Click Accept the Upload to finalize the changes.
Important Notes:
- Renaming Columns: Make sure you update the column tags in the column tagging section to match the new names of the columns.
- Deleting Columns: Be careful when deleting columns, as this action removes any associated data. Ensure that you no longer need the data in that column before deletion.
